all i’m gonna say is this…Clinton Hill is a historic district WITHIN Bedford-Stuyvesant…no more no less. It is NOT a seperate neighborhood. I was born and raised and grew up attending Brown Memorial Baptist church (Gates and Washington) and I’ve always known that.
My first baby photos were taken in Bed-Stuy at Pope Studios and I took a high school graduation photo at Franklin Studios although my high school used another photographer. Are either of these places still around?
Bed-Stuy starts at Classon. Even wikipedia says so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed-stuy
Seriously, Franklin Ave is in Community Board 3 and Al Vann’s council district. It is in Bed Stuy.
A friend’s grandmother schooled me on the borders of Bedford Stuyvesant as a teenager. The neighborhood extends from Bedford Avenue to Stuyvesant Avenue; hence the name.
Forget what I wrote. I see now that BID doesn’t purport to cover the limits of Bed-Stuy.
Because a lot of orgs still recognize Bedford-Stuyvesant as starting at Bedford Ave. Look at the Bed-Stuy Gateway Business Improvement District– it encompasses Fulton from Bedford Avenue to Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Nostrand Avenue from Halsey Street to Atlantic Avenue. I don’t want to reopen this debate but i’m sick of that swath of land between Classon and Bedford being a no man’s land, no benefits of belonging to either neighborhood.
Why does the headline say Clinton Hill when the location is Bedford-Stuyvesant (as correctly noted in body of post)? But good luck to them.
Shouldn’t it say “Bed-Stuy” gets a photo studio?
