Streetlevel: A Tenant (Finally) for 936 Fulton Street?

First off, the restaurant is Vini e Olii. Oleo is another word for margarine. That said, I can see why you would find this place pretentious.
The food is great, service can be spotty at times but always functional and the prices are good for the quality of the ingredients. Luckily, most people disagree with you as it is a great place to have in our neighborhood and does very well.
While I might welcome a nice restaurant, we do have Kush (friendly, tasty, if sometimes a bit slow), Vini et Oleo (pretentious, overpriced), in the immediate area, and the place in the old Bodegas space at Clinton, as well as the Soule and a couple other places I haven’t ever been to. Oh, Brown Betty (is it still open?) on Grand, the owner’s restaurant in that same building corner of Fulton and Grand. What we don’t have is consistency. And of course I forgot Jolloff at St James and Mariam (halal) next to the Mosque. The Thai place near Washington. Take-out, including, Golden Patty, Good pizza.
Did you mean a French bistro?
I hope we are getting a new resturant as this area is underserved, no food options in this area of Clinton Hill. I’m sure there’s enough $$ to be made for good retailers.
The space next door has a sign that it’s available for $4700, and it’s much bigger.
$4000 seems high for the smaller space, but I do believe someone has rented it.
I hope it’s another bodega.
I was told that the space is being rented for 4,000 mo. After hearing about the space on classon and greene asking for what I consider an implausible amount I am not shocked. What kind of retail could generate enough income to be profitable and pay these amounts on fulton and classon(small gway mgmt storefront also on putnam) in this economy?
