Something's Brewing in Brooklyn: Gimme! Coffee

The ultimate no-nonsense espresso bar can be found at in Williamsburg at 495 Lorimer St., between Grand St. and Metropolitan Ave. Kevin Cuddeback, founder of this Ithaca-based small chain and wholesale roaster (which includes four stores in addition to this one), explains, “Espresso is not a roast of coffee, it’s a means of extracting flavor, and no other means comes close.” In this modern space decorated with mod black swivel chairs, cappuccinos and lattes are accented with a rosetta, or leaf shape, that the well-trained barista creates as textured milk is carefully combined with espresso.
