If you follow the link to the blog and read the captions for each door, you will see that they were not photographed for their beauty, but more for some ironic quality, with the exception of the church door.
BTW these doors are AWFUL.
No actually doors WERE stolen in Bed Stuy to be placed on doors in other neighborhoods. Many manels and other orginal detailings were robbed. Some were sold to “Sanford and Son” like junk yards by crack heads feeding their habits. Our door is a replaced door and albeit not crazy ugly, not original.
amzi hill, you don’t literally mean “gentrifying people” from boerum hill or wherever came to bed stuy and picked/broke locks and pulled doors off their hinges in the dead of night? that seems . . . unlikely. my impression is that these cheap doors are installed because the old ones are too expensive to maintain/preserve/restore.
Slow news day?
Many doors of Bedford Stuyvesant were stolen. When other neighborhoods where gentrifying people would come to Bedford Stuyvesant to get there doors. I really hate seeing these old home depot doors on this homes built over 100 years ago.
um.. what’s so special about these doors pretell?
the first and 3rd doors are hideous!
middle door is cool
I like the door on top of a door.
So we’re going to have a hideous door contest???
