Last week, we noticed that someone had proclaimed the development site on 3rd Street and 4th Avenue “the second-most littered sidewalk in Park Slope.” Yesterday, we came across the site that appears to have taken first place in the contest, the property next to the Lyceum on 4th Avenue near the corner of Union. There were also some saltier messages printed on the fence relating to bodily waste that have not been reprinted here. This is the parcel where an old Septa car took up space for years; it was sadly removed in July ’08 in advance of would-be development that never came to fruition.

they took out half the sidewalk, now have expired permits. no permits on the fence.

  2. Nah, but there’s 2 landlords in the center Slope that are pigs. One of them is the Department of Education, owners of what most call John Jay HS. The other is the slumlord who owns an abandoned laundromat nearby, all of his tenants dump their garbage there and it’s a mess.

  3. I agree with rob, too. Everyone on our block picks up any litter that is around, including stuff along the curb and street.

This apparently inactive building site is a different issue. There should be fines issued.

  4. I agree *butterfly*. The streets near Long Island College Hospital, especially Henry, are disgusting. Employees and visitors who don’t live nearby don’t give a damn where they throw their trash. The worst is broken glass, which I’m constantly picking up before CDog and other dogs and all the children you’re so fond of (lol) — there are 2 popular kiddie parks in front of the hospital — get hurt.
