We told you back in June about how the owner of Pedigree sneaker shop was planning to turn the storefront next door at 49 Willoughby Avenue (formerly the home of Bidonville) into a fancy coffee and espresso bar. Well, we biked past earlier this week and were surprised to finally see it open, complete with a giant WTF welcome mat. Anyone sampled the goods yet? UPDATE: As a commenter points out below, the cafe is called WTF and you can read a detailed profile of its high-end approach to coffee on Serious Eats. GMAP
WTF — delightful name. never mind staff with attitude, let’s put the punters firmly in their place with a good aggressive name for our new business. I mean, wtf is up with that?
To clarify, I’m taking about straight coffee. Not some foamed up byatch special.
I’ve never had great coffee at any coffee shop. It’s always a million times better made fresh at home.
I tried a cup of the siphon this weekend. The coffee was sublime, but the interaction with the people there–who really know and appreciate the science and craft of coffee–justifies a return trip. No one really needs a $5.50 cup of coffee, but this is the best defense as to wanting one I’ve ever seen.
it’s actually called WTF – extensive coverage on Serious Eats (http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2010/10/coffee-chronicles-wtf-is-brewing-in-fort-greene-brooklyn-coffee-shop.html).
Curious what the basic prices are?
