  1. well, Yemen is right next to Africa, across the gulf of Aden from Somalia (where all the pirates are). but it is definitely part of the Arabian penninsula, which of course is in Asia, and which was always physically attached to Africa at its northern edge (the Sinai Peninsula) until the French built the Suez canal and separated the two continents. Yemen is very interesting, the urban houses are architecturally ambitious. Very few Americans go there. I was there ten years ago, really loved it.
