Developer RAL Companies and Affiliates opened its doors to retailers in 2007 for its 75,000 square feet of space in One Brooklyn Bridge Park, a luxury condominium in Brooklyn Heights along the waterfront. The Real Deal reports that Ian Levine, the company’s COO and CFO, claims to be in discussions with two restaurants and a high-end market. Levine would not, however, disclose the retailers’ names or details of the possible deals. One Brooklyn Bridge Park, like many other new, luxury condominium buildings, has been struggling to fill vacancies, and vacancies have probably contributed to the lack of retail interest. The developer and the marketing firm, Winick Realty Group, are hoping that when the Brooklyn Bridge Park is complete on Pier 6, more foot traffic (currently there is little to none) will come to their isolated location along the waterfront and drum up interest in condominiums and retail space.

  1. I guess I could see walking from Dumbo over to OBBP if there were decent restaurants, but isn’t the real value of this location once the park is complete? I guess it is just a question of how early someone is willing to grab the space and wait it out.

  2. I have a car too, but even I’ve used All Car. There are a few locations, but there’s one near us at the Marriott. I spent over a decade renting a car in Manhattan and I’d forgotten that you can just rent a car without lines or missed reservations or general crap. They’re really nice people over there.

  3. The area is really kinda remote. I have been there a few times on my bicycle, but to walk around, there is absolutely nothing there.

Its under the highway, kinda bleak, but if you go west then it becomes cobble hill and the area picks up much better.

  4. They only say a couple of people have contacted them about the space. They may have gotten a call about rates and next thing you know, they’re making it sound like the River Cafe II is going in
