“Northern State”
“Jean Grae”
“Invincible”
Never heard of them.
“Beastie Boys”
Legitimate.
“Did you hear about Tribe Called Quest’s contract? They made something like $200 each for Low End Theory AFTER it went Platinum.”
I have friends who work in the music business. In fact one of my good friend has produced hit records and worked in A&R. The music contract is one of the most oppressive things in contract law. You give up your work, masters and creative expression for a car rental.
Look at TLC Music contract with Laface records and Pebbles (former music singer). They had to go court to break that contract and they was offered commercial but the record company did not tell them. TCL in 1995 the album “Waterfalls” made millions but they had to spilt 900k between them. Laface and Peeebles racked in millions!
If you get a chance please watch VH1’s Behind the music on ODB. He was sentenced to 4 years in State prison for having 1 gram of Cocaine but Robert Downey Jr was given probation and drug treatment. This why I rail against the Mind F*** of Brownstoner!
The What
Someday this war is gonna end…
“Every particle was diabolical down to the last visible molecule.”
I never came from, or lived in the suburbs, cornerbodega. What’s your excuse?
Ok, I don’t know for a fact that he made millions, but he was making money. Enough money that he was in fact ineligible for those benefits and enough for NY to come after him and make him pay back the benefits he received. Done.
I know that musicians/rappers aren’t supposed to be role models but that does not change the fact that to many young people they are.
cornerbodega, as usual, adds nothing to the discussion. L-)
thanks troy i will look into them 🙂
*rob*
“I’d have to file this one under “who cares?”, frankly.
Can we raise up some better role models for our kids to emulate, instead of a foul mouthed rapper with thirteen children, who’s dead from an overdose? I don’t see the attraction.”
M Morris, why don’t you just go back to the suburbs…
defaced? more like a proper start at covering up that entire mural. keep going till its gone.
