Will the new MTA website feature “The Weekender” make using the subway on the weekends less of a hassle? Probably not, but the retro design based on Massimo Vignelli’s subway map from the ’70s sure does look cool. More from the Times on the launch: “The stylish digital map will be customized each weekend to reflect the myriad service changes that regularly bedevil straphangers on Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, rerouted lines and shut stations are noted only in stiffly written prose that sometimes compounds riders’ confusion.” The guide is supposed to go live on the MTA’s website this afternoon.
