Is Williamsburg about to get a bit more green? The Daily News reported yesterday that community board members and councilmembers are hoping the city-owned lot, 390 Kent Avenue, will become parkland—currently a maintenance shop and parking lot sit there. The nearby Domino Sugar factory will soon transform into 2,200 apartments, whose residents will presumably be paying top dollar to live in the neighborhood with the least green space in Brooklyn. Awfully prime waterfront space for cars, don’t you think? Councilman David Yassky put the property on his 2005 top 10 list of “Waterfront Wastes and Opportunities,” so he clearly agrees.

The site extends north to the Domino site (so part of the park would be under the bridge).
Now this is something that i can agree with the Councilman on. It seems like a no brainer: parking lot or waterfront park? Duh.
