Closing Bell: New Mural on Greene
Last week we spied the final touches going up on this mural at the corner of Greene and Classon Avenues in Clinton Hill. There’s some branding going on here, so we’re wondering if this is an attempt at urban cred by Gorilla Coffee or just the building owner trying to enliven the streetscape.

meganbw is almost correct. The mural is for the new Ford Fiesta, but it is part of an ongoing Brooklyn event in which two former Pratt students are test-driving a Ford Fiesta and doing challenges along the way. The whole thing is based on social networking interaction. For more info: http://www.fiestamovement2.com/new-york-city/team-profile/team-brklyn/
“BSD” – both of those “words” don’t need “quotation marks”
This is actually an ad for the Ford Fiesta. Not kidding. The logo got painted in near the end, so you can’t see it in this picture. Not sure if the other brands (Gorilla et al) paid to be there as well, but that would be odd…. Or maybe they’re there to show us that Ford “gets” Brooklyn?
anything to liven up that corner is welcome, but i’ll miss the old NYNEX and Brooklyn Union Gas signs they painted over.
Gorilla already has cred among its hipster/yuppy clientele. Unless “urban” is “code” for something else.
omg there’s a yellow peacock in on the lower middle left.
:runs screaming::!!
