As we reported back in September, the Navy Yard is building a new headquarters for the tow pound cops as part of a larger plan that will reclaim the Sands Street entrance as the main gateway to the Navy Yard itself. Apparently, two stories is all she wrote on this one. No word on whether the new digs will make the pound police any more pleasant to deal with.

  1. Out of their own pocket, or using funds allocated by the city? In the current capital budget commitment plan, the mayor has allocated over $16M for “Development” and upwards of $70M for “Infrastructure.” (Could we be a little more specific?) Not to mention the $3.5M allocated for “Navy Street,” which if your rationale is correct, Mr. B, might very well include the funds necessary for the new tow pound headquarters. I wrote “Probably nothing” because I doubt that the funds for this project are coming out of the BNYDC budget.
