This is what’s SUPPOSED to happen: http://nypost.com/2016/01/07/guy-gets-insane-rent-deal-on-swanky-pad-after-landlord-scammed-him/ Not just “return apartment to rent-regulated status.” Cuomo isn’t even quoted as saying that the RENT rolls back to what it should have been had the landlord complied with the law…let alone that the defrauded tenant gets a refund, as this guy did.
It’s one thing to “return apartments to rent-regulated status” and provide new, stabilized leases. It’s another to be compelled to refund tenants who have been overcharged, based on the fact that they were legally rent stabilized while they paid non-stabilized rents, potentially for years. There’s nothing in the article about refunds. Once tenants received their new rent-stabilized leases, do they have to individually sue the landlords to get the refunds owing?
The City can’t find a solution to the homeless crisis, which they’re responsible for creating with their liberal giveaway policies, so they’re blaming private landlords.
Does Cuomo want formerly homeless adults living next door to him?
Deblasio and Cuomo the conqueror are horrible. They want to set New York back 20 years with their attacks on private landlords. They ought to cleanup NYCHA projects before they start punishing landlords with their autocratic policies. The housing projects, particularly Louis Armstrong and Marcy houses disgusting, rat infested, cesspool.
Can anyone visit the Marcy Housing projects and take pictures of the hundreds of rats in the cellar and outside.
