NY times article on fixing the roads is interesting. I don’t mind if they collect the payroll tax statewide and distribute it upstate too but what the Republicans tend to do is to collect it from us rich downstaters and then distribute half upstate and half downstate so the downstaters wind up paying for it all and with only half the benefit. That is why the toll on the bridge fight makes no sense to me. That way everyone who uses the bridges pay for it and those who register their cars or pay taxes in PA or other places have to pay at least part of the share of maintaining our infrastructure(highways and mass transit). If I were from Upstate too I would like the City people to pay for our highways…
The NY1 story has left out a major piece of information. The seller is held liable to pay taxes on the loss the banks accepts on the short sale. The seller is given a 1099 for the dollar amount of the bank loss which can result in a very big tax payment owed to the government. Who is worse to owe money to, the Gov’t? or a bank? You are better off foreclosing, your credit report still shows you did not pay back in full the lender and will have adverse affect on your credit.
Amazin’ shot, Jane.
