  1. Spike’s not quite ready to have a fork stuck in him. He’s just released (or is about to release) a highly admired movie. Maybe it will make enough money so he can stop whining about real estate woes.

  2. Yes, re: the poor article in the Brooklyn Paper, the “reporter” should have pointed out that Spike’s boohooing is completely hypocritical…frankly, it’s dissociative in nature.

His crying poor is a joke. He kicked out the long-established non-profit in the building he owns on South Elliott. If the poor guy got pushed out of the DeKalb location supposedly because of insane rent, why didn’t he move to the S.Elliott building earlier. And, how can DUMBO be cheaper than staying put in the building he already owns?!!!

There is something disjunctive in the narrative…does he really think saying he got pushed out by insane rents is going to help him connect with the little people?

He’s all about status and a bit of a has-been at this point, no? I guess the FG location which is prime is just not cool enough for him so he wants DUMBO cred and sidewalk presence. Frankly, he might as well move to La Cienega Blvd and call it a day.

  3. So lemme get this straight.

Spike Lee, who left his office in Ft Greene because the rents were “insane” is now setting up shop in DUMBO?

Yeah, DUMBO must be pennies on the dollar to Ft Greene.
