Today, the Department of Transportation holds a forum on residential parking permits. They’ll look at whether the permits would help alleviate parking and traffic problems. Councilmembers David Yassky, Letitia James and Bill de Blasio, along with several neighborhood groups, have organized the meeting. DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan is scheduled to attend. New Voices on the Gowanus
Today, learn what scientists and scholars think about the pollution and remediation issue in a talk entitled “New Voices on the Gowanus: Focus on the Public Place.” Hear their views on the Gowanus area and the Public Place. Professors and students from the Columbia University Graduate Schools of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Planning & Preservation will answer questions and present on their recent research, findings, and recommendations, which have just been published in book form. Monday, 6:30 p.m. P.S. 58 Auditorium, 330 Smith Street.
McCarren Park Pool Presentation
Today, the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and architects Rogers & Marvel will share their plans for the future of McCarren Park Pool. Goals include renovating the pool for swimming, creating a year-round recreation center, and preserving and restoring the historic bathhouse building and entry arch. Monday, 6:30 p.m. The Lady of the Snow Society, 410 Graham Avenue (between Withers and Jackson streets).
