This ain’t your mother’s Hot Bird! As we predicted on Monday, Hot Bird, as famous for its large yellow signs as for its chicken back in the day, relaunched on Tuesday night in an old garage space at the corner of Atlantic and Clinton Avenues and The Examiner was there. It’s fair to say that we’re just a little bit excited about the results: The interior looks extremely welcoming in a Williamsburg-y sort of way, and soon enough there will be an Alan Harding-run food truck parked Habana-style in the courtyard. We don’t think it’s going out on a limb to predict that this place will be a hit with residents of Clinton Hill and Prospect Heights. We certainly plan on dropping a few bucks there in the upcoming months. You can check out additional photos from Examiner writer Clay Williams on his Flickr page. And for a photo and more info about the food truck, click through to the jump.

As he details on his blog, Alan Harding of Smith Street fame way psyched about the new food truck he is retooling to park in the courtyard of the new Hot Bird. It’s a 1962 Chevy Curbmaster Kustard King model that Harding’s planning on buffing out “like an Airstream.”

  1. we went early saturday evening. Great space/decor. Reasonably prices drinks (only had beer). A lot of parents with toddlers tho, and it was 7:30pm. Some were giving dirty looks to other, rowdier patrons. fuggetaboutit!

  2. I went last night — its really awesome. Prices are reasonable for the drinks and the vibe is great in there — love the decor. The outside area is really fantastic, so much room. I am so so glad to have this down the block from me!

  3. non-fringe:
    vanderbilt
    clinton
    waverly
    washington
    st james
    cambridge
    grand

    fringe:
    downing
    irving
    classon
    franklin

guess wasder/blowfish is partially right but there’s more than enough non-fringe blocks (vs fringe)

  4. Good point about how small Clinton Hill is blowfish. IF the blocks from Grand to Classon are fringe that only leaves a few blocks of actual non-fringe Clinton Hill. Might as well just tack it onto Ft Greene at that point.

  5. Blowfish and jessibaby I chose the login because I wasn’t really thrilled about having to have a login in the first place but I have to admit it does reflect my personality. Probably more than I allow my posts to haha.
