Tenants are calling for the ouster of a Brooklyn congressman’s aide after it was revealed four low-income buildings in East New York that he owns have received more than 100 violations from HPD this year alone. Ironically, the aide, Reginald Bowman, has spent much of his career as a housing advocate and continues to act in that capacity for Representative Major Owens (D-Crown Heights). Bowman points the finger at HUD whom he says is supposed to pony up the maintenance funds. Tenant Ayana Coulter just wants the building cleaned up: “We have a lot of roaches. The elevator [is] broke. My apartment [is] always flooded.”
