Supposedly there are plans (last year postponed) for reconstructing Lawrence St. station and connect with Jay Street to create a transit hub downtown. Status right now I dont know.
Maybe its part of the transportation bond issue on ballot next week.
That’s a great idea, although why not give a fare discount on weekends, since so many of the trains aren’t even running then. Sundays are the absolute worst — I guess the MTA figures that since most people don’t work, they don’t need to go anywhere either, and if they do they have all the time in the world to wait for their trains.
Why not blame the MTA for not using part of their so-called surplus to upgrade some of the worst stations, including Lawrence St. We don’t need a fare discount on weekends. Keep the money and fix the stations.
Notice how the Lawrence St/Metrotech stop was added by readers? One more example of how a Bruce Ratner development does nothing else for the surrounding area…
If you get a chance, get to the restaurant mentioned in the “Brooklyn Lobster” Family article – great seafood. There’s one in Brooklyn and one in Long Beach on LI.
