rats happen anytime you do tear downs or renovations. it’s not a big new thing. blaming ratner is dumb. this could happen anywhere.
Aaannnd…Mr. Bruckner was the founder and principal of Murrow as well as just a teacher. But I’m grateful for the link, so I won’t complain. 🙂
either rats are lazy or we’ve been lucky. i’m about 6 or 7 blocks from the site and we’ve seen nary a one.
When they build the first piece of the mall and certainly when the second, bigger mall and office tower went in at Atlantic there were enormous numbers of rats that ran into the surrounding neighborhoods.
When they needlessly ripped down Ward’s Bakery we also were completely (!) overrun with rats everywhere. It was disgusting and knowing what we spent (though not enormous), from all the people I know who spent money to the rat problem, a small fortune was spent by the totality of people in the community dealing with Ratner’s Rat problem.
I’m sure there’s little or absolute NO consideration of the rat problem caused by these demolitions, diggings, and building projects listed in their “Environmental” reports!
you can get cash from gates and stuff? where are the places that give cash for gates?
*rob*
Gates have been taken from Park Slope too.
Homeowners with gates beware – there have also been thefts in Stuy Heights on Macon Street from Lewis to Ralph Avenues and MacDonough Street (between Stuyvesant and Lewis).
So, it’s not just THE RAT, but actual, rodent-type rats as well. I don’t know which is worse 🙂
When I saw the item listed as “Midwood Street Named for Teacher” I thought that it referred to my street, Midwood Street, which I know is named for what was originally an alternate term for Flatbush. It’s actually “A Midwood Street Named for Teacher”, which is very different. It’s SO confusing since the mid-50s when “Midwood” ceased being the same as “Flatbush” and became the part of Flatbush where white people still live 🙂
