I think is 1/2 of previous pay. But max payout is $405 per week. Limit was 1/2 year but has been extended for additional 13 weeks.
dave, can i politely ask you to stfu about the truffles already? jeez it’s every single post and thread.
anyway, with more and more people requesting unemployment benefits does that mean there will be less money? how does unemployment work anyway? it scares the hell out of me but you know never know i could be out of a job soon too myself. i wouldnt even know WHERE to begin. 🙁 how long does it last and how much do you get? like 1/2 you made? that would suck.

DIBS, I’m pissed about your truffle post being removed too, especially in light of the redundant, aggressive threads allowed to be posted by other commenters.
Mr. B, please explain or I will organize a boycott of this blog (even if it’s just me, DIBS and BRG, that’ll cut out 500 hits per day!)
Yesterday someone was recommending the ETF…PBS… as a way to play unemployment with people staying home. It’s an ETF of media companies but mostly cable operators. These guys will be seeing people cut premium services first and then just stop paying their bills. Not a good investment.
Biff…I’m miffed my truffle post was taken down. Don’t you think it was valid for discussion given how I framed the post with a nod to Brooklyn real estate?
If I decide to boycott for a few days, the number of hits are going to take a noticeable dive and look like the S&P chart. then ad revenues plummet. it’ll be a viscious circle of pain for brownstoner!!!
“Don’t these people have computers at home?!”
troll, they’re unemployed and perhaps can’t afford it. Maybe they had to cut off their $39.99 cable access to buy things like food and pay their rent.
Yea, whats up with that? Don’t these people have computers at home?!
On a different note, im really excited that coney island will remain an amusement park.
From what I was told, you don’t actually have to go to the Unemployment Office. You can sign up for benefits online.
