What is going on with these “krapt” fairs? There is so much lousy junk at them!!!
Hhhh…what kind of “numbers” do the craftspeople do at these sales? They rarely look like they do much business. They need to focus more on usable items not “wearable” “art”…so much jewelry/light metals work as well as cutesy textile items are made overseas and the prices on the locally made items are not appealing to shoppers. And eight tables of borderline boring or tiresome jewelry can be a turn off.
Household and table items always seem to move best at craft fairs.
Wooden pens don’t sell. Hand dyed tops don’t sell that well. Large brooches that have printed photos laminated into them don’t sell. Kitcher ceramics that look like 80’s Conran’s kitch don’t sell. Way overpriced ($500 and up) ceramic “artwork” does not sell. Photographs in mats don’t sell that well. Cool or “ethnic” jewelry may sell okay. Well proportioned ceramics and porcelain tableware and vessels can sell decently. Decent bags can sell. Well-made glass items (either blown or moulded) can sell.
