  1. I urge anyone who is interested in the landmarking procedure to come to the meeting. (How about you folks in the need to be landmarked Bed Stuy nabes and Lefferts Place?) There will be a lot of information about how the process works, and most of the speakers will be answering questions about what is or isn’t covered by Landmarking, the availability of grants and loans for landmarked properties, the grandfathering in of existing conditions, the question of whether or not you can opt out, or be included, and more.

People who are against this have complained that they haven’t been kept informed (not true) and that the city is planning to take their property somehow (also not true). Rumours are often more interesting than fact, but if you really want to get the information from those in the community who are really in the know, as well as city officials, please come to the meeting. Subway (3 train to Nostrand) is only 3 blocks away. Meeting is in the basement of the church school, and entrance on St.John’s Place is easy to see.
