There was a big accident this morning on 18th Street between 4th and 5th Avenues involving an overturned dumpster. From the tipster’s mouth: “The dumpster slipped off the top of the rig landing sideways on the sidewalk, taking out a small tree. Block is sealed of with PD, FD, and various winches and emergency vehicles…The sound of it hitting the street was insane. Thought a house (or our house) was falling down. Cops were there in minutes and taped off the scene…How is that thing balancing on it’s back corner? Someone’s unfortunate old Ford Bronco is wedged underneath it. Poor thing looks like a tin can now that they’ve taken the dumpster off it. No one was hurt as far as I can tell. Looks like the bronco may have saved the new sapling that was also hold up the dumpster. We waited years for that one tree…Who knows what they’re doing to the house that’s being renovated, but likely another old frame will become a yellow brick and chrome castle.”
Gravity. Can live with it, can’t live without it.
Yikes.
When we ordered a dumpster, the trucker was like a fine artist getting the dumpster in and out of the parking space. Very precise.
Well, that’s my house. Apparently the subcontractor for the DoT who was charged with taking the dumpster away dropped it. I’m very sorry about all the disturbance.
It won’t be a yellow brick and chrome castle — just a restored old wood frame.
dumpsterpocalypse is the best headline ever, and cuts too close to describing greenwood business as usual.
That’s how my peeps “roll” in Greenwood Heights baby!
