We’d heard mutterings about a possible green market in Dumbo, but just got confirmation yesterday that one will indeed launch in June. The market will take place on Sundays at the corner of Main and Plymouth streets at the entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park, according to a well-placed sourced. The first season will run through a November. Score. GMAP

  1. I am really pleased to hear that there will be a farmers market in dumbo this summer. I like to get all my veggies and fruits, and would go to Cadman Plaza, but then I am stuck there because I cannot carry all of my stuff home. This is great news for the neighborhood.

And as far as the noise factor goes, that particular intersection of dumbo is not overwhelmingly noisy.

  2. Just want to be clear- it’s a farmers’ market operated by Community Markets, not Greenmarket.

I just hope the folks that live in Farrugut Houses will have access and that the market doesn’t hurt the Greenmarket farmers on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cadmen Plaza. What ever happened to the half-mile walk? Perhaps fairway and too many cars.

  3. hey 10:45: have you ever even BEEN to Dumbo? It’s not in the least as noisy as you portray (however amusingly you have done it). The only possible time that you would literally not be able to hear someone talking is the odd occasion when you standing RIGHT under the bridge and TWO trains pass each other simultaneously. Then, I grant you, it’s loud–for about 20 seconds.
