Closing Bell: The Cyclone Rides Again
The Cyclone, the rickety-but-much-loved roller coaster at Coney Island, kicked off its 2010 season yesterday with free rides for the first hundred people in line. (The first people started lining up at 5 a.m.) The Daily News has a video of the experience here. Photo by Pablo Jonsey

The Cyclone is effing scary. I don’t fair well on roller coasters, especially wooden ones. But I have been on the Cyclone…. Once.
I’m looking forward to the rebuilding of Coney Island. It’s a shadow of its former self and has a ton of untapped potential, despite what yuppies and hipsters may think.
Riffs!

I’ll miss going there shirtless with just my leather vest and 3 bottles to do the ‘Warriors, come out and play’ chant.
yeah it’s a given the reconstruction of coney island will be lame. im glad they are leaving some parts alone tho.
*rob*
I rode it last summer and got a spinal readjustment. Whoa.
I was at Coney Island both days this weekend running on the boardwalk- love the old funky Coney Island, I am a little worried about this reconstruction.
I think it’s pretty cool that the city owns a rollercoaster.
