On Wednesday night at 7 p.m., Channel 13 and WLIW21 are airing a documentary about the life and career of the mastermind behind Prospect and Central parks, Frederick Law Olmsted. The film delves into how Olmstead’s vision resulted in parks that were “the first real urban parks in America and explores what makes them so distinctive, particularly the broad, pastoral meadows inspired by open spaces of the west.” Prospect Park is of course a big player in the doc, and the Prospect Park Alliance is also featured.

  1. Olmsted has made me happy so many times. I’ve lived in 3 cities with large landscaped parks of his right near me for walking in. When I don’t live a 10 minute walk from one, I feel it. Other parks, sure, but there’s something about his.
