Closing Bell: No Sleep On 2nd Street

There’s some heavy-duty telecom work that’s closed down 2nd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in Park Slope. According to the tipster who sent in this photo, Verizon has been working around the clock for the last two days. Evidently the snow last night prompted them to set up this little tent. The tipster notes that there is now a permit affixed to a traffic cone referencing “repairs of underground utlities” but that there was no advance notice given to block residents.
Advance notice? This is Park Slope! They should have been required to get written permission!
Yeah, what advance notice? Con Ed started digging up our street this morning. I could feel our house shake.
I’m all for work that must be done, but jackhammering at 11:00pm and beyond for two straight nights? They really just showed up with no notice and started jackharmmering all night. I live on the block, and I can say that the inconvenience has been the noise, really.
though, i’d like it if Time Warner would fix their utilities so my cable doesn’t black out at random moments (does that strange, black-screen freezing thing happen to anyone else?)
You’d think they’d be grateful the work is being done. (But you’d be wrong…)
They also don’t tell you when installing wire taps….
They’d really be complaining if Verizon wasn’t there fixing whatever. Sometimes it’s inconvenient to fix the things we need and depend on every day. Too bad.
WTF? That is absurd – advance notification for repairing utility infrastructure????
GTFO!! What is next, advance notice from FDNY to park by the hydrant?
Do any of you really know what’s going on under that tent??? Really????
why is even this newsworthy?
