The Art Lot on Columbia and Sackett has a couple new works on display for the summer. The pieces are grouped as a show called “Unique Forms/Redux.” One of the works, “Pipe Dreams,” involves manipulated HVAC piping and another is called “63 Chairs.” Last time we visited the lot, the project on show involved advertisements for a hot-air balloon hotel. 1. chairs = not too bad but why painted? and why so few, if it’s a pile up the wall they want then by all means, pile a crapload of those muthers the heck up!!! and i hope those chairs are just stacked by balance, not fastened, if they used fasteners then it’s a heap.

    pipes = complete crap

  2. This lot has had a string of interesting and surprising installations. Eventually I expect it will be built on, but for now I enjoy it.

    And please do point me to all that below-market subsidized housing for fine artists because I personally have not met anyone with space under such a program. (Yes, I know there’s studio space at places like PS1 and there are grants for artists (like NYSCA) but most artists still work “real jobs” as well.)

  3. when people see this do they say this artist should have an affordable loft or subsidized housing at my expense or rather they need to find a real job??

  4. I live around the corner and I love this little lot of unexpectedness. People who complain need to get a sense of humor and some perspective.
    and yes, I’d say this even if I wasn’t a “guest”
