By all appearances, Greenpoint will soon have a new park. While not quite on the scale of McCarren Park, the new spot will offer views of Newtown Creek. I was googling something else and came across this post. I can’t believe this park is STILL not opened! I first noticed it on Thanksgiving, 2007. It’s now September 2008 and it doesn’t look any closer to being open. What is taking so long? It thought it would surely be open by this summer!
There aren’t any projects in Greenpoint.

Too bad they removed every single belgian block in the huge plaza behind the park there and just replaced it with tarmac. Lame lame lame.

This has looked like this for at least nine months. They still need railings and staircases down to the lovely green water. They had staircases. . . they were stolen.

greenpoint is too much a cultural gem to not belong to brooklyn.
