One of the landscape architects who helped transform Brooklyn Bridge Park will lead a tour of the park next Wednesday, discussing the design and planning process behind the urban oasis. Matthew Urbanski, a principal at Michael Van Valkenburgh Architects, will talk about how the firm created a welcoming community space with elements that allow the park to remain sustainable — like a rainwater collection system used to water the lawns and prevent flooding. The tour meets at 6:30 on August 20th, at the entrance to Pier 1.
