greenwood-trolley-tour-flyer.jpgBack by popular demand is the Green-Wood Cemetery Trolley Tour. On Sunday, April 26, Alexandra Kathryn Mosca, author of Images of America: Green-Wood Cemetery, returns to give her guided tour honoring Green-Wood’s “Who’s Who” of 19th-and early 20th-century New York. The event is $20 and according to BrooklynBabe will probably sell out fast like last time so reserve your seat now. To reserve, call (718) 768-7300 or online at greenwoodcemetery.org.

  1. Walking around Green-Wood is a great workout and something I try to do when I can. But the tours can’t be beat. I took this trolley tour in November and am thinking of taking it again. As Bayridgegirl pointed out, the cherry blossoms are in bloom in April and beautiful to see. Plus, I really had fun on the November tour and liked that we saw many monuments of people that I had read about in the author’s book. There were two tour guides, one was the author who was very nice (got to talk when she signed my book) and another was a guy who was really funny and had us laughing. I checked today to see if they are taking reservations and found out they are. The tour is listed on the Green-Wood Cemetery website.

  3. Their website is slow to be updated, so call.

No need to wait for a tour, get off your butt and head over there for a stroll.

While it’s best in the spring, summer, fall…right now there’s great views out of the cemetery of the city due to no leafs on the trees. Them turn around and looks at all the beautiful sculptures.

    One of my fav places.

  4. actually, It is probably more enjoyable, and better exercise, to walk a couple of miles around the cemetery. But when I took the tour, as part of a philanthropic cultivation event, the guide was very amusing. He was so enthusiastic. It was as if he had been bosom buddies with many of the long dead “celebrity residents”.

  5. Aah, for goodness sake!!!
I said all I have to say about Greenwood in Today’s Open Thread.
April 26th: Are the cherry blossoms in bloom then, that would be a treat.
I’ve been here so many times but have never done the trolley tour.
    Enjoy!
