Gotta love it when you’re scooped on your own story by The Times. As readers of the Diner’s Journal blog are already aware, the upcoming Brooklyn Flea season will be a little different than last year. As usual, we’ll be moving back outdoors to our flagship location at Bishop Loughlin in Fort Greene on Saturdays starting April 10. On Sundays, however, rather than head back to Dumbo where construction along Water Street has created too many potential headaches for a regular market underneath the Brooklyn Bridge this year, we are going to stay put in the Williamsburgh Savings Bank space at One Hanson. While we are really sorry not to be in Dumbo, where we have received so much support from officials at Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Dumbo BID, we are also excited to continue our residency at the architecturally-stunning space where we’ve spent the winter. It’ll also be nice not to be so weather-dependent!
Brooklyn Flea Will Stay At One Hanson [NY Times]
I won’t miss it. Too goddamn cramped in there! They needed to turn 1HP on its side during the flea. Look at that cathedral headroom!
***Bid half off peak comps***
we’ll be there in Ft. Greene though — flea is worth it.
there’s really nothing more jaw dropping then taking your out of state family to the brooklyn flea under the brooklyn bridge. I can’t wait to have it back post-construction 🙁
Mr. B- Yes, that’s complimentary when the NY Times scoops your own flea market and calls your Williamsburg Bank setting “almost deliriously lavish”.
The bridge didn’t really make much of a difference, but we also hope that we can return to Dumbo post-construction.
The flea in Dumbo was the one that wasn’t so weather dependent to begin with–it was under the bridge. That’s too bad…lots of walk-in tourist traffic on the Dumbo waterfront that you likely won’t have at 1 Hanson. I hope you head back to Dumbo soon.
real bummer. dumbo was spectacular.
city point site would be sweet too.
damn. i miss the dumbo flea. oh well.
