Over 300 women tried out earlier this month to be the official Brooklyn Nets dancers. Thirty made the cut, and last week they strutted their stuff at Brooklyn Bowl. Gothamist was there, but it sounds like a bit of a disappointment: “They barely danced! It started at 7 p.m. and they had the girls come out in groups of three and do a quick 30 second dance. It was all done before 7:25!”
They represent Brooklyn no more than Ratner, Prokhorov, or the guys from Boca who got the bottled water contract.
I would expect the dancers of a Brooklyn franchise to look like Zooey Deschanel and Zadie Smith. And less like women who just finished their shifts at Hooters. Boy was I wrong.
