A week ago a fire gutted the top floor of 307 Stuyvesant Avenue in Bed Stuy, former home of Solomon’s Porch and home-to-be of Butternut Market. Luckily no one was hurt, and Bed Stuy Blog reports that the incident only set back the store opening back a couple of weeks. “We did have water damage and smoke damage, which insurance will cover that,” said one of the founders.”It truly could have been worse if we were set up and our equipment and food could have been destroyed. Involved at the outset/planning stage.
youve mentioned this store a lot dave, what is your role in this store? is it your store!?

It was an electrical fire. i don’t know how fast the repairs will be made but the LL was instrumental in Butternut getting the adjacent spaces behind it. He hasn’t been paid rent in a long time, even with Solomon’s Porch there.
How responsible is the landlord? Is there a set plan for the landlord to fix the roof? It looks exposed to the elements, which I can’t imagine is a good thing. Can work on Butternut continue – or must it wait for the roof repairs to be finished? By the way, is there any word on how the fire started?
I hope they are able to repair and open soon. It will be a great addition to a fabulous community.
I am convinced this market will never open.
Yes, this was a setback. It now depends upon the building repairing the roof.
