We celebrated President’s Day by sharing the story of Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American woman to be elected to Congress, first major-party black presidential candidate, and the first woman to run for the Democratic nomination for president. Williamsburg’s City Reliquary pointed us to a 2006 exhibit item honoring her as well. See it, below.
