Brooklyn Public Library’s Night of Ideas Returns With Headliner Werner Herzog

Settle in for a night of deep discussion at Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Branch for its 10th annual event exploring philosophy. Night owls can gather for an evening of debate, discussion, and performances.
This year’s theme is “The Philosophy of Mathematics” with invited artists, psychologists, and philosophers participating in deep dives into the often intimidating topic. The annual event encourages the flow of ideas; this year will look at math as an essential element in our lives.
Participants include filmmaker Werner Herzog, who will provide a keynote address, the artist Paul Chan sharing the “secret spirit of calculus,” a workshop with Irene Koloseus and Féraba highlighting tap dance and the rhythm of numbers, and the return of the “Ask a Shrink” talk. There will also be performances by musicians Marcus G. Miller and Joe Goodkin. If all the math stresses you out, certified therapy dogs will be on hand.
The free event begins on Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the library at Grand Army Plaza and runs until 3:14 a.m. on Sunday morning. The full schedule can be perused at the event page online.
