The Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Boerum Hill house tours return in the next few weeks, giving interior design fans and Brooklyn real estate lovers a special opportunity to see inside the stylishly revamped homes of neighbors for themselves.
The annual Prospect Lefferts House & Garden Tour celebrates its 46th year this month with eight homes and a garden on the roster. Among the properties are a 1910 brownstone with an open floor plan, a home with a recently renovated kitchen, a brick townhouse with a slate mansard roof, and an apartment with Art Deco touches in a yellow brick 1941 apartment building.
“Don’t miss the squirrel-proof bird feeder in the back yard or the working model bicycles in the finished basement” of the brownstone, one of the organizers told Brownstoner.

Refreshments will be served in the garden, where there will also be live music, courtesy of local community group PLGarts.
The event, which is organized by the Lefferts Manor Association, will take place on Sunday, May 22, beginning at noon. Tickets cost $20 in advance or $25 day of and are available both online and at Tip of the Tongue coffeeshop on 43 Lincoln Road.
The Boerum Hill House and Garden Tour, held once every two years, takes place two weeks later. This marks the event’s 52nd year and 27th biennial tour. Organizers have found seven homes, a bar and a community garden for attendees to experience.
The featured properties include a Greek Revival with a modern interior renovation, a gut renovated Victorian townhouse, and the bar, which features a ceiling made of domino tiles, tour organizers said.

The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, with a 4 p.m. reception at the Invisible Dog Gallery at 51 Bergen Street. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased online or at various ticket outlets in Boerum Hill, listed on tour organizer the Boerum Hill Association’s website.
Also coming up are the Victorian Flatbush house tours, which will happen on the same day as the Boerum Hill home tours on June 5. Later this year, in the fall, the Crown Heights North and Bed Stuy home tours take place on October 8 and October 15, respectively.
