The Brooklyn Building Awards winners were announced yesterday by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. Here they are:

• National Grid Award for Energy Efficiency — Toren
• Retail Category — Brooklyn Bowl
• Residential Affordable Category — Schermerhorn House
• Small Scale Residential Category — The Silhouette
• Residential: Multi-Family Category — 80 Metropolitan
Two individuals—David Kramer of The Hudson Companies (and Third & Bond blog) fame) and Downtown Brooklyn Partnership head Joe Chan—will also be honored at the July 15 ceremonies.

Actually, I think the residential affordable deserved to win (pictured above) Considering all the very bad stuff going up in bklyn these days, fedders this and fedders that, here is a project that asthetically at least, looks damn good. It’s a great example of affordable housing proving that it doesn’t have to look cheap to be cheap.
That first listing tells us all we need to know about the credibility of these awards and the competence of the judges 🙂

Agree the space is great, DH, but we had the misfortune of going one night when a metal band was playing and it was a bit much to take.
