Outdoor movies had a limited run in Brooklyn Bridge Park last summer, but this year a full calendar is back with eight movies to enjoy from the comfort of a picnic blanket.
The featured movies were chosen with the theme of “Away We Go” in mind, and mix action and family-friendly films showcasing locations around the world. Among the selections are “The Bourne Identity,” “Jurassic Park” and “The Mitchells vs. the Machines.” Still to be decided is the final film on August 25, which awaits a public vote to determine if it will be “Back to the Future,” “Mamma Mia!” or “Mission Impossible.”
For those who want to dine while watching, Smorgasburg will be selling food and drink along the Pier 1 promenade beginning at 5 p.m., well before the movie action begins. Transportation Alternatives will be on hand with a free bike valet.
The movies are free and the lawn opens at 6 p.m. Each night will feature a DJ from Brooklyn Radio and a short film created by a local filmmaker and chosen by BAM Film. The main feature starts at sundown, roughly 8:30 p.m. For the full schedule of films, visit the event page online.
