brooklyn-brewery-expansion-111810.jpg
As Steven Hindy related to the audience at the Brooklyn Real Estate Roundtable luncheon last week, during the recent real estate boom the Brooklyn Brewery was unable to find space to expand its beer-making operations since every commercial landlord in town was holding out for Whole Foods or waiting to sell to a residential developer. When the market started to head south a couple of years ago, the brewery all of a sudden started looking like a pretty attractive tenant. So it was that Hindy was able to strike a deal to expand next door to its flagship location on North 11th Street in Williamsburg. As you can see from the above photo, the expansion is well underway. When the work is finished, the brewery will expand not only its brewing operations but also the size and times of its retail presence. You can see photos from earlier this month of new brewing equipment arriving from Germany. Yum.

  1. The other day Brownstoner reported that stimulus money was going to the hotel planned for the former Pepper & Potter site. I believe that is untrue, and so commented. I also believe that stimulus funds are going to this project.

  2. Damn. My post didn’t quite work out. Supposed to be “rub in face”, “nearly” and “gentrifed [commercially]”, respectively, under the “R”, “n” and “g”.
