In the flood of capitalist purchasing that is the holiday season, enjoy a free outing at the the Brooklyn Botanic Garden during its Winter First Sundays.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden‘s Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, the BBG is hosting a series of events in a pop-up Japanese Craft House. The associated activities are free with garden admission.

The first Sunday, December 6, will begin its programming with an 11 a.m. winter bird walk, meeting at the Steinberg Visitor Center and spotting seasonal flyers throughout the garden.

In addition there will be a class on giant origami, a narrated walk of deciduous tress led by a licensed psychotherapist, and an hourlong adult yoga class. Throughout the day there will also be a handmade paper flowers trunk show at the garden’s gift shop.

For more information, see the Botanic Garden’s event calendar online.
