book fair
It was a full-crowd scene at the book fair at the Park Slope United Methodist Church on Saturday. We scored a few good used books, including a children’s book written by none other than Dolly Parton. Kitsch just doesn’t get any better than that! The church felt like it was a little worse for the wear. Anyone know if it has fallen on hard times?

  1. Hey Brownstoner, we would really like to see you there one Sunday morning at 11am. Visitors welcome! We are in the middle of a building wide renovation that is going to cost alot more than we planned on. The space where the sale was held just underwent an expensive lead abatement. Our old kitchen is in need of a total gut renovation. The boiler is more than 50 years old. However, did you notice our spectacular fire alarm system and new electrical overhaul that allows us to run the coffee pot without blowing the fuse? Did you notice our beautiful garden restoration? We are a vibrant, growing, community of families that welcome new members. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our booksale. It was a blast. “Hand in Hand, we the people of the Park Slope United Methodist Church-black and white, straight and gay, old and young, rich and poor -unite as a loving community, in covenant with God and the Creation. Summoned by our faith in Jesus Christ, we commit ourselves to the humanization of urban life and to physical and spiritual growth.” (PSUMC Creed ) We are a Reconciling Congregation. We celebrate the gifts of all persons, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. Child care provided during services. See you there.
