An upcoming walking tour with the Municipal Art Society of New York will give you a chance to explore the history, art and architecture of Bed Stuy with some experts on the area.
Architectural historians Morgan Munsey and Brownstoner’s own Suzanne Spellen will lead a walking tour of one special street in Bed Stuy. The “Heart of Bed Stuy” tour will highlight the unique character and flavor that makes Bed Stuy the place it is, with a focus on its residential architecture and background on the area’s history and changes through the years. They are being a bit mysterious about which one of the many great Bed Stuy streets will be the focus — presumably it will be revealed once you sign up for the tour.

Spellen’s written extensively on Bed Stuy’s history, culture and architecture for Brownstoner, with stories ranging from how redlining affected the area to profiles on the architects that worked in the area.
The tour will take place on Saturday, October 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. It costs $20 for MAS members and $30 for non-members – you can get more info and purchase tickets here.
