A historic corridor through Brooklyn, Atlantic Avenue may soon be transformed. The Center for Brooklyn History and the Municipal Art Society are convening a conversation to explore the impact of a proposed rezoning of the area, known as the Atlantic Avenue Mixed Use Plan, on local businesses, residents, and historic structures.
“Progress and Preservation: Atlantic Avenue End-to-End” will dive into issues of gentrification, displacement, preservation, and affordable housing in a dialogue with professionals who work with the communities affected. The panel will include Kelly Carroll of the Atlantic Avenue BID, Ifeoma Ebo of Creative Urban Alchemy, Rebecca Macklis of The Municipal Art Society of New York, and Mimi Mitchell of Community Board 8.
The conversation will take place on Thursday, January 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Center for Brooklyn History at 128 Pierrepont Street. The event is free, but reservations are required. Find out more information at the event page online.
