Pity the owners of the townhouse at 491 Dean Street. The privately-owned house shares a side wall with a parking lot at the corner of Dean Street and Sixth Avenue that is going to be used as a holding pen for media trucks that will be covering events at the Barclays Arena across the street. “I doubt many such broadcast support lots serving other arenas are flush against row houses,” writes Norman Oder in an Atlantic Yards Report post this morning. It’s anybody’s guess whether the owners will take solace in the renderings of the parking lot released by ESDC yesterday. (Probably not, since the house, along with the two to the east, is subject to eminent domain.) Designed to make the lot look better from the street, “public art screening” will occupy all of the fence space on both the 6th Avenue and Dean Street frontages of the lot. For another view of the renderings and more detail on the real estate history of the lots, check out Atlantic Yards Report.
