Antiques for Gowanus
Atlantic Avenue’s Horsemen Antiques has opened an offshoot on Union Street near Bond. The Boerum Hill mainstay is still open even though it’s been put on the market. The Union Street space was formerly occupied by a warehouse outlet. GMAP

This is a very smart move for them. I can imagine that many of the shops on Atlantic will move to 3rd Ave. They need low rents and good space to inexpensively store merchandise. Atlantic’s antique row is now only a fraction of what it used to be.
3rd Ave has both the selection of shops and warehouses, the proximity to the R train, is located between 2 gentrified neighborhoods and walking distance to the Flea. Once a few shops move in, I bet the neighborhood will become a full fledged antique district.
These stores are were anchors for Atlantic ave for a long time, right? Seems like the business model for antique stores is to be near other antique stores because it’s a foot traffic kind of business.
Hope this lead to more of them migrating over. Hint- the rents are probably even cheaper south of 9th street on 3rd ave, and you will be closer to the home depot/lowes traffic!
pastoralia is correct.
New space. Same high prices.
Neat, maybe a move to the shores of Brooklyn’s Riveria is in order.
3rd Avenue is hott! Now, if only they would raze those ugly PJ’s on 3rd and send all the riff-raf scurrying…
Really there is so much awesome stuff coming into the Gowanus area. It’s great.
