Comment of the Day

Setting any mansion tax at a fixed level without taking into account inflation is foolish. The “mansion” tax on purchases $1,000,00 and over is ridiculous when $1,000,000 buys a 1 bedroom apartment in Manhattan. I would support this proposal if it eliminated the mansion tax at the $1,000,000 threshold and provided for the modification of the threshold for the new tax to take inflation into account. That won’t address fluctuations in the market, but it’s something, at least.
