Comment of the Day
Construction/renovation costs in most places outside NYC are far, far lower. I’ve renovated houses in Chicago (at least 6), Philadelphia, rural PA and MA and I can tell you that NYC prices (how much due to the DOB???) are astronomical compared to elsewhere. Of course there are places similar to NYC like the Bay Area (though still less) and Greenwich, CT. I also own 2 homes in historic districs and they are far less onerous to deal with than the LPC. It’s a completely different world outside NYC (in so many ways).
